Cheltenham What Lovely Ale
The Kemble Brewery Inn, a really nice pub tucked away in the backstreets of Cheltenham and only a fairly short walk from the ground although don’t trust me on walking as I do walk distances and personally find the Cambridge FC to railway station just a stroll (how can it be difficult, it’s flat not a hill in sight!). Anyway, back to Cheltenham and the lovely recently refurbished Kemble Brewery Inn. The building was originally a butchers shop but in the mid 19th century a new owner from Kemble made it into a cider brew house; hence the name, you get the picture?
I went to the Kemble in the 2014/15 season; the season of the famous McNulty rugby tackle and enjoyed a couple of very nice pints. The pub was really welcoming and served some decent food. Since that time the inn has been taken over by a new couple and refurbished and by all reports has just gone from strength to strength with well kept ales and inexpensive wholesome food; see the Trip Advisor series of reviews (as usual click the highlight).
The pub is used by local Cheltenham supporters and those away supporters that have found this gem; overall a quality and very friendly place for a pre match refresher.
A pub which I also plan to visit is the Sandford Park Ale House CAMRA pub of the year 2015 national winner; large selection of ales and must be worth a visit.
